Digital cultural environment program for Kalmar
In February 2024, Kalmar municipality launched its new digital cultural environment portal. The portal contains information on the cultural-historical value of buildings as well as practical advice for property owners.
The cultural environment portal contains facts such as:
- year of construction
- architectural style
- period details
- building materials
- how well preserved the building is
- what changes have taken place
- what the building was used for and other interesting history.
In some cases, there are recommendations for measures that could increase or enhance the value of a building. It is a good tool for those who want to preserve and develop the cultural heritage that we have in Kalmar.
On the portal, there is, among other things, a building inventory that has begun, which currently includes Kvarnholmen, Malmen and Gamla stan. In addition to a cultural-historical assessment of the houses, you can also read about their building style, age and function, etc. Below you can see some of the buildings that have been singled out in the blue category and which therefore have particularly high cultural and historical values.
