Pedagogy at the Kalmar county museum

We who work with pedagogy at the Kalmar county museum want to inspire both teachers and students in the county to use cultural heritage as a pedagogical resource in school work. We want to be an urgent meeting place for lifelong learning and a natural part of the school's regular teaching and activities. We work with all ages, from the Stone Age to modern times, and offer educational programs, workshops, trainings and time travel/role play from preschool to high school with the premise that learning should be fun. Everything we do has a connection to current curricula and course plans. The activities are based on experiences, interaction, conversation, own creation and imagination. Together we reflect on complex and socially relevant issues at
an inspiring and engaging way.

40 years of experience with children and young people

The educational unit at the Kalmar county museum has more than 40 years of experience working with children and young people in Sweden, locally, nationally and internationally. In our work, we start from the time travel methodology, where we draw knowledge and nourishment from history to be able to reflect and look forward in time. This is a method that has spread throughout the world and
which we continuously develop. We who work with pedagogy have varied backgrounds and skills in learning, history, archaeology, journalism, images, drama, oral storytelling and textile history.
