Description
Jenny Nyström's early academic work is of high quality - so high that she received a gold medal, a scholarship and was allowed to exhibit at the Paris Salon in 1884. She does not join the other artists who endorsed plein air painting and the breakthrough of realism, but went her own way and earned a living for her family through the illustrations.
Her elves are modern, they listen to the radio and deliver packages from airplanes. The Easter bunnies sometimes descend by parachute and have left the broom at home. Jenny Nyström also became a pioneer as a children's book author.
