Description
With Peter Danielsson, historian and homestead consultant
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark celebrates 50 years as regent on the Danish throne this year. She is Denmark's first female monarch since the Middle Ages when her namesake, Queen Margrethe I, ruled over the entire Nordic region. When Margrethe was born in 1940, it was not at all clear that she would become queen – female succession to the throne was only introduced in the country in 1953. Margrethe studied archeology in her youth and often accompanied her grandfather, Gustav VI Adolf, on archaeological excavations. During the evening, Peter Danielsson talks about our neighboring country's popular queen, who has close ties to our own royal house.
