The 1980s, an eventful decade overshadowed by the last shaky days of the Cold War with submarine hunts, the assassination of Olof Palme, the nuclear accident in Chernobyl and the fall of communism, but also a decade when we slavishly followed the Department Store and Dallas, listened to Alphaville and Depeche Mode, sunbathed solarium and perfumed us with Date and Karl Lagerfeld.

Olle Larsson takes us on a journey back to the 1980s and mixes major political events with popular cultural references and personal memories from his own teenage years in Oskarshamn. After the lecture, we let the word go and talk 80s!

The lecture is based on Olle Larsson's book The Dramatic 1980s – The Decade That Changed the World (2022.) Olle is a lecturer at Katedralskolan in Växjö and grew up in Oskarshamn. Together with Andreas Marklund, he is the host of the podcast An unexpected story.
