The future

– an independent Kronan Museum.

Another couple of years of diving work at Kronan's wreck site remains before the entire wreck is fully examined. Thereafter, a ship archeological documentation is carried out in the form of measurements of the exposed hull and an extensive 3D photography of the wreck.

The rest of the wreck to dig out is the cavity, at the bottom of the ship. The area is difficult to dig because thick layers of densely packed find material and crushed ship logs cover the hull.

Once the research work at sea is completed, the goal is to create an independent Kronan Museum in Kalmar. It will both constitute the "crown of the work" and the starting point for a new era in the investigations of Sweden's largest regal ship.
