War - always just as unbearable

To connect the small story with the big one? To see today's war in Ukraine through the filter of a past fate? Does it work? The era of Swedish great power was characterized by long wars which exacted their bloody toll and many were those who became "consecrations at the soldier's camp".

One of these many was Nils Roback. He belonged to a military family which for generations served in Småland units, preferably Småland's riders and the Kalmar regiment and took part, among other things, in the battle of Poltava, which was then located in present-day Ukraine.
